Black's last move in Ofstad - Uhlmann (Halle 1963) was 17.- Be7xNg5. Black did not see any danger and thought White's attack is not strong enough. I must admit that I - looking at the position for some time - did also not see anything wrong with Bxg5. But - as always in life - it took a turn.




Solution (diff. ●●●●○): 18.Qd6+ Be7 19.Rxe7 (19.- Nxe7 20.Qf6+!! (amazing!) gxf6 21.Bh6#) 1-0 It's interesting that the position after 17.- Bxg5 is mate in 6!
